Dragonfly, lives most of its life as a nymph under water before it rises up above the surface and out in the sun to go through the metamorphosis and mature into a beautiful winged insect. It flies only for a fraction of its life and usually not more than a few months but when it flies – it really flies – in many styles and in all six directions.
This ancient model also features its distinctive huge eyes allowing 360-degree view around it. It is not surprising at all, with 30,000 lenses in each eye and 80% of the brain power dedicated to its sight, that should be possible. Just to put it in perspective, we humans have just one lens in each eye.
You can find dragonflies in Umred during the monsoon season, close to the lakes, ponds, rivers, streams, marshes, bogs – mainly places with many mosquitoes and flies, etc. because that is what a dragonfly eats.
