Formerly a weblog focused on Umred, this blog has transformed to delve into topics that align with my interests.
Better from afar!
Better from afar!

Better from afar!

If you see huge spider like creatures surrounded by clouds of dust on Chargaon road – Umred,  don’t get too excited. These are not aliens or alien-ships ascended from galaxies millions of miles away but stone crushing plants set up by humans who see opportunities in even a rocky infertile land.

Yeah! Sorry for crushing your hopes, it wasn’t part of the plan. 🙂

Apparently, the area is perfect for setting up stone crushing units. There are about 250 small and big stone-quarries in Umred and surrounding areas.

Umred is a developing area, you find new construction projects everywhere, and these stone quarries reduce the size of the stones and provide material for construction.

Now, you may not be able to breathe the air around it, but you can definitely smell the profits, even from afar.

I am sure these stone quarries take necessary measures for abatement of pollution and have sought proper consent as is required under the AIR (Prevention & Control of Pollution) act, but I was happy to just watch it from a distance.
