While Shire horses have been used for farming in Europe, in Umred these oxen/bulls have been in fashion and popular among the farmers for centuries.
As it is at most places, tractors and other machineries have reduced the use of oxen, but there are many who for lack of funds continue to use this age-old method for farming and commute. Bullock carts similar to the one in the picture can still be seen on the roads in the villages around Umred. Looking at the cart, I am not convinced that it’s the most efficient design for the cart but what do I know.

Use of these animals for noise-free ploughing of the fields or transport in villages sounds fine, as long as they are cared for and treated well and are NOT used for bullock cart-racing, or the carts are not overloaded with people & things.
(P.S. – I do not approve of the nail on the stick and would take it away immediately, if I had any power over it).
