Local Fruit – Umred

I found this fruit in Umred and absolutely loved it. What do you think it is?

Have you ever heard of Bael Fruit Tea or Bael Iced tea? I guess it is really popular in Thailand. In India too people make bael fruit drink with its pulp and lime juice. It has a distinct smell – quite aromatic and refreshing actually.

It’s called the – Bael Fruit (Aegle marmelos) (also known as Bengal quince, stone apple).

It is regarded as one of the best laxatives. But, don’t assume that every person searching for a bael fruit or its extract is constipated. 🙂 This fruit has other medicinal and healing properties as well. It is said to be good for the heart, brain and digestion and it’s especially good for diabetic patients (Please don’t reference me on it, do your research).

Ironically the two people who responded to the post are not from Umred but from the USA. So, to you two – thank you and if you would like to know what the fruit really smells like then check out bael herbal tea, you can probably find it in a specialty tea shop there.
