The wanderer in me finds other wanderers: The Rabari Tribe

Rabaris (outsiders): The wandering and herding people, living under the open sky with their cattle, camels and goats. They can often be found camping in areas around Umred, in the forest or open pastures for grazing.

The Rabari women wear long, black headscarves, which fall loosely to the ground and men commonly appear in white.

Aesthetics and creativity seems to be an important part of their lives. You can tell from their possessions and clothing. They are especially known for their “Rabari Bharat (Embroidery)”.

They are shy people and probably the only reason why they let me take pictures was because my father shares the same place of origin as them – “Kutch” in Gujarat, India.

Notice that they both have gold caps on their teeth?
